Persons With Disabilities (PWD) can ride the Rapid KL train service for free this weekend (5th and 6th December), in conjunction with the National OKU Day 2020 celebration.
It involves all Rapid KL operated rail services including the:
- LRT (Ampang, Sri Petaling and Kelana Jaya line)
- KL Monorail
- MRT
According to reports by Berita Harian, the offer is given to all Malaysians who have an official OKU card issued by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM).
Outside of the special promotion period – Prasarana, Rapid KL’s train and bus operator – also offers a 50% discount to consumers with disabilities.
It’s also reported that they’ve been building and upgrading all of their facilities, including trains and buses, to be more OKU-friendly.
For instance, the Ampang LRT Line was upgraded in 2012 with elevated facilities and raised platform areas to facilitate wheelchair movement.
