Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been ordered by the High Court to pay RM1.69 billion to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) today.
According to reports, Judge Datuk Ahmad Bache has allowed the IRB’s application for a direct summary judgement in the suit against Najib.
He previously tried to adjourn the suit but was denied.
The Pekan Member of Parliament was sued by government through the IRB who demanded that he pay RM1.69 billion for unpaid income tax, with an interest rate of 5% per annum from the date of judgment, including costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court on 25 June 2019.
