317 Children Infected With Covid-19, Says Health D-G

As of 18 April, there are 317 Covid-19 cases reported among children below 12 years old and also infants, according to Ministry of Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Out of the 317 cases, 112 of them (35%) are children aged 4 and below and 22 (7%) are infants.

Data from the Ministry showed that Selangor has the highest number of cases among children under 12 with 77 cases.

Below is the list for each state:

  • Selangor (77)
  • Negri Sembilan (48)
  • Johor (46)
  • Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (28)
  • Sabah (26)
  • Sarawak (23)
  • Pahang (14)
  • Kelantan (12)
  • Penang (10)
  • Melaka (9)
  • Terengganu (7)
  • Kedah (5)
  • Perlis (1)
  • Labuan (1)

Dr Noor Hisham has said previously that besides the elderly, children are also highly susceptible to be infected by the coronavirus.

He advised parents, guardians and older relatives to take responsibility and protect their young from being exposed to the virus.
