A Penang man pleaded guilty to concealing his travel history during a Covid-19 health screen and was charged with 3 months community service.
Omar Mat Khatib (31) has been working in Singapore as a postman before leaving the island on 18 March before the Movement Control Order (MCO) came into effect.
He started to develop flu-like symptoms and also suffered from a fever a few days after leaving the republic, which prompted him to visit the Pendang District Health Clinic.
However, despite going to the clinic, he failed to fully disclosed his travel history to the health officer on 26 March.
Starting from the date of sentencing, Omar will be expected to report to the Pendang district parole office and has to carry out at least 3 hours of community service per day.
It’s reported that he is the first Malaysian charged for concealing their travel information during the MCO.
