Malaysia Records More Covid-19 Recoveries Over New Cases For Three Days In A Row
Amidst the fight against Covid-19, it seems that the hard work of our frontliners is starting to bear fruit as Malaysia has recorded more recoveries from the coronavirus compared to new cases for three days in a row.
As of 10 April, the Minstry of Health announced 222 patients have recovered from the disease and can be discharged. The total of those recovered is now 1,830 or the recovery rate of 42.11% since the outbreak began in January.
Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said over the last 24 hours, 118 new cases were reported, bringing the accumulated cases to 4,346.
In terms of fatality rate, we are currently at 1.61% after 3 new deaths were reported, bringing the number to 70.
Commenting on the Movement Control Order (MCO) extension, Dr Noor Hisham said the move is crucial to help break the chain of infection.
He also added that Malaysia has managed to control the severity of the rate of infections, beating estimates made by third parties.
JP Morgan predicted that by 14 April, Malaysia would have around 6,900 positive patients, while Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) predicted between 8,000 and 9,000 cases in the next one week.
Dr Noor Hisham said cases have been declining and the numbers might have peaked last week which is a good sign for the country.
