MERCY Malaysia Launches New Hotline To Help Lonely Malaysians
As the movement control order (MCO) is extended to two more weeks, Malaysians are expected to stay indoors until the MCO ends with healthcare and government officials working together to break the COVID-19 infection chain.
Although many might take this opportunity to spend more quality time with their family or loved ones, some are not so lucky as the extension means they are forced to stay in isolation for longer.
Isolation and loneliness is a serious issue as the American Psychological Institution said the magnitude of risk by social isolation is very similar to that of obesity, smoking, lack of access to care and physical inactivity.
To help Malaysians cope, MERCY Malaysia in partnership with the Crisis Preparedness & Response Centre (CPRC) launched a hotline for Malaysians who want someone to talk to.
If you feel isolated, you can contact their hotline 03-2935 9935.
It’s available 7 days a week from 8 am to 5 pm.
Covid-19 Response: In partnership with the Ministry of Health and Crisis Preparedness & Response Centre (CPRC), we are pleased to launch a HOTLINE to help people who need someone to speak to.
