Six people have now died from COVID-19 in Malaysia
According to health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the fourth victim was a 50-year-old man who is believed to be one of the attendees of the tabligh convention at the Sri Petaling Mosque. The man was warded in Malacca on 12 March.
Meanwhile, Sarawak’s disaster management committee announced that two more people have died from COVID-19 there. The duo were mother and daughter aged 70 and 40.
The first death reportedly occurred on 18 March, but it was only confirmed to be due to COVID-19 today after the private hospital, which warded the patient, received test results from Kuala Lumpur.
The second victim in the family passed away at 1pm today.
The Health Ministry has also confirmed that another 153 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total nationwide number of confirmed cases to 1,183.
Out of these 153 new patients, 90 were traced to the tabligh convention.
On the bright side, 27 confirmed patients have reportedly recovered and been discharged from the hospitals. This brings the total number of recoveries to 114 people.
