29 Selangor schools closed today due to haze; here’s today’s API readings
Twenty-nine schools in Selangor have been closed today (Sept 13) due to worsening air quality in the state.
Recording an API reading of 213, the state was the sole location in Malaysia to be rated “very unhealthy†levels of air pollution yesterday after the smog subsided in Rompin, Pahang on Wednesday night.
The Selangor government has decided to conduct cloud seeding operations in haze affected areas with API reading exceeding 200
The measure was agreed to during the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting yesterday,
Meanwhile, Disaster Management Committee at district and state levels have also been activated when the API recorded readings of between 151 to 200 for more than 24 hours.

As of 10am today, API readings in Selangor recorded Petaling Jaya to have been hit the worst at 139, followed by Shah Alam (135), Klang (128), Banting (123), and Kuala Selangor (104).
The haze is even worse in Kuala Lumpur with Batu Muda recording an API reading of 152, while Cheras is at 144, with the latter reading representing that of the city centre.Â
After some improvement in air quality yesterday, Putrajaya is back to recording higher levels of API today at 140.
