Nobu KL’s Tanoshi Hour is a sanctuary amidst the fast-paced lifestyle of Malaysia’s city life, offering a delightful respite from the daily grind.

Derived from the Japanese translation of “Pleasant Hour” or “Happy Hour,” Tanoshi Hour promises a haven where you can soothe your soul while tantalizing your taste buds with an exceptional selection of drinks.

One of the highlights of Tanoshi Hour is the spectacular sake duo from Nobu’s collection — the Hojonzo Onigoroshi and Hokusetsu Daiginjo TK40.

These sakes captivated our senses and left an indelible impression.

For enthusiasts of Asian brews, this combination has truly set a new standard.

A Spectacular Sake Duo: Nobu’s Hojonzo Onigoroshi and Hokusetsu Daiginjo TK40

During Nobu KL’s Tanoshi Hour launch party on Wednesday, The Rakyat Post was served Nobu’s very own sakes, the Hojonzo Onigoroshi and Hokusetsu Daiginjo TK40.

Both sakes are an extraordinary pair that captivated our senses and left an indelible impression.

For someone with a strong affinity towards Asian brews, this combination from Nobu’s collection has certainly raised the bar.

Starting off with the Hojonzo Onigoroshi or better known as the Devil Killer, upon opening the already stunning looking bottle, its delicate aromas waft through the air, inviting you to experience its rich flavour profile.

While it is seen as a drier version of the sakes available, the Hojonzo Onigoroshi also embodies a perfect balance between umami and acidity, providing a smooth and silky texture on the palate.

Its complex flavour profile showcases a beautiful interplay of earthy notes, with a delicate sweetness that lingers pleasantly.

With that, we believe it is safe to say that each sip is a journey of discovery, unfolding layers of flavour that evolve with every moment.

Complementing the Hojonzo Onigoroshi is the Hokusetsu Daiginjo TK40 sake, an exquisite expression of the brewer’s artistry.

And trust us when we say that this sake truly exemplifies the pinnacle of refinement.

Crafted using the traditional Yamahai method and employing Yamada Nishiki rice polished to an impressive 40%, it showcases the dedication and precision that went into its creation.

The Hokusetsu Daiginjo TK40 enchants the senses with its floral and fruity aroma, instantly drawing you in.

Its delicate and refined nature gently envelops the palate, delivering a sublime experience.

The flavours unfold beautifully and gracefully as well, with hints of fruits and floral scents and tastes dancing on the tongue.

The sake’s velvety and creamy texture is accompanied by a lingering, medium-bodied one that also leaves you craving more.

Whether enjoyed individually or together as a tasting flight, the Hojonzo Onigoroshi and Hokusetsu Daiginjo TK40 make for an extraordinary journey into the world of sake.

Their nuanced flavours and unparalleled quality are a testament to the artistry of Japanese sake-making and have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our palate.
