Massive Landslide At The MACC Academy In Bukit Tunku

A landslide in front of the entrance of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) building turned a normal day into moments of anxiety for many.

The landslide area is said to be 12,000 square feet and it also caused the collapse of a hut.

According to Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Senior Operations Commander Yogeswaran Elongavan, they received information the incident at 1.54pm yesterday, as reported by Astro Awani.

“Upon arrival, we found a landslide had occurred in front of the entrance to the MACC Academy and a security guard’s hut had collapsed.”

Yogeswaran also stated that 76 victims were ordered to evacuate the building immediately, consisting of 17 men and 21 women from the MACA building as well as 19 men and 19 women from the Integrity building.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or lost of lives.

Yogeswaran said upon further investigation, it was found that soil movement was still detected during the incident, believed to be caused by a broken underground pipe.

He also stated that the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Public Works Department (JKR) and Air Selangor ware also present during the incident.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi shared his sympathies through a Twitter post.

“I deeply sympathize with the victims involved and hope that efforts to identify the real cause and measures to control the collapse can be expedited.”

He also stated that there is no sign of natural factors that have been identified to cause the collapse. However, JKR is conducting further and detailed investigations.

He requested the cooperation of all parties to comply with the instructions of the authorities to avoid any unwanted incidents.
