It’s not everyday you see an average person willing to go above and beyond to help, especially if the task is arduous and dangerous.

Yet these good samaritans did.

Over the weekend, a stray dog was spotted stranded on the treacherous cliff of Forest Hill in Damansara Perdana and has been drawing a lot of attention on social media.

The Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA) Selangor called for help on their Facebook page for the dog to be rescued from the steep cliff, claiming in their post that the Fire Department was unfortunately unable to help with the situation.

While things begin to seem hopeless, a group of animal lovers, spearheaded by seasoned rescuer Francis Poh, decided to take on the mission of rescuing the male mutt.

In a Facebook posting, Poh recalled the mission saying that it began at 8am and carried on till 4.30pm.

Few tagged me, then I offered to help and asked who would like to join me in the residential group. Instantly, I had Kevan, Stefan, Chia Leng, Azhar and Mr. Gan offer themselves. Honestly grateful. We started from 8am and finished by 4.30pm. We did (it in) two parts, first from the lake and second from the top of the jungle. We have done it successfully without major injuries but minor cuts.

He added that they had an elderly man who helped out in guiding them in the dense jungle area.

The video he had posted depicted the challenging journey all six rescuers endured, from getting on the boat to climbing through thickets of vegetation and finally reaching the dog who was seen sitting calmly waiting for the rescuers to get it down.

All of us were not only sun burnt, but our stamina has been tested to the max.

After the whole mission had been completed, the team was treated to a meal for their hard work.

I would like to thank the residents of ForestHill for actually staying with us till the end, we came back with water, pizza, Starbucks, bread, so nice of them.
