Local child actress, Puteri Rafasya, 12 is now able to walk a few steps after she suffered from a broken hip due to a chair-pulling prank on set on 22 February.

Based on a social media post by her mother, Fatin Aliza Salmi, 33, Puteri is seen walking with the help of a walking aid and a railing during a physiotherapy session.

It is also said that she doesn’t require diapers anymore and she is beginning to feel less pain.

The picture was taken on March 17, eight days after she was hospitalized at the Tunku Azizah Hospital (HTA). She was hospitalized three times since the incident, twice in Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and once in HTA.

Fatin also thanked everyone who continues to wish her well.

Puteri suffered from fractures in both her bottom and waist after she fell and hit her back against the metal leg of a tripod. Initially, the chair she was supposed to sit on was pulled by another child in a supposed prank.

The fall affected her nervous system, resulting in numbness in her limbs which rendered her unable to walk. She even had to rely on diapers and a urine bag before.

Mother To Take Legal Action

As reported by CNA, Fatin said that she will pursue legal action after engaging with a lawyer and waiting for her daughter’s medical report.

However, Fatin has not revealed the identity of the girl or her parents on social media, out of goodwill, fearing how netizens could retaliate.

According to her, members of the production team as well as herself and the parents of the girl who allegedly pulled the chair were on set during the incident that happened on 22 February. She also told that the alleged prankster is younger than Puteri.

Furthermore, she also said that the parents only apologized to her during an in-person meeting on 13 March, which is more than two weeks after the incident. The meeting was attended by both parties involved as well as representatives of the production team and the Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman).

Until now, a week after that, the parents have not stated any intention of visiting my child who had been in hospital for eight days. I did not get any SMS, WhatsApp or call from the parents.

What do they think? After saying sorry, just leave it at that? I did not say I accepted their apology. That did not happen. I just listened because I was too emotional to talk. I actually couldn’t even bear to see their faces.

Additionally, Fatin shared that some parties present during the 13 March meeting insisted that Puteri fell off the chair herself. The other girl’s parents also offered RM120 as “assistance”.

“We will leave this matter to the lawyers. This is actually a big issue – a safety issue with the production set. I don’t want to talk a lot about this production that I feel similarly didn’t want to be responsible,” she added.

Fatin expressed her sadness seeing her daughter traumatised by the incident. Puteri missed the outdoors, especially when she sees her younger siblings going to school.

Puteri is estimated to be out of action from the acting scene for at least three months. For now, she is learning to walk without a cane and is scheduled for physiotherapy and follow-up appointments. She is now spending her days at home, drawing and doing arts and crafts.
