Videos and photos of a deer sitting and running by Jalan K5 Taman Melawati and the Riverview Kemensah riverside have been circulated in Whatsapp groups last night (18 February).
According to The Vibes, Zoo Negara confirmed that a male hog deer had escaped from the zoo and a search party was launched.
Zoo Negara public relations officer Solihatun Shahidah Othman said the deer is part of a group of deer that are allowed to roam freely in the zoo’s open area.
However, the slick deer found an exit hole through the river stream that leads out of the zoo.
Currently, it seemed like the zoo is still searching for the elusive animal. Meanwhile, the neighbourhood closest to the zoo has been notified to keep an eye out for the deer.
This is the first time that I heard a deer escaping into our neighbourhood. We will be on the lookout, and we will inform Zoo Negara and the authorities as soon as possible if we come across the animal.
