Children have feelings and their own interests so it’s heartbreaking to see this video on TikTok posted by @cikatienn.
The video showed a young school girl wiping away tears streaming down her face when she discovered all her favourite Kpop merchandise have been burnt by her father.
She walked around her room while trying to look for any remaining pieces. Based on the video captions, some of the expensive merchandise were given by her friends and others she bought with her money.

In another clip, she dug around the charred ground outside to try and salvage some of her most prized belongings.
Most of the items burned by her father were burnt to crisp. Despite the sad situation, she managed to find a box containing a few of her prized posessions but it was charred at the sides.
Netizens felt sorry for her and criticised the parents for not talking to their child before destroying their belongings.
It was alleged that the father burnt all the merchandise because he didn’t like the items in her room.
A netizen said parents do not need to understand their child’s interests, but they can guide them on better interests or paths instead of abusing their authority and invading the child’s privacy.
Look, I don't get half of the things my kids are into. I know about them, but I don't get them. But it isn't about me: It's about a kid having interests. And as a parent I just have to make sure that it's appropriate and talk to them about it. Bukan bakar macam orang tiada akal.

takut anak lalai, bakar konon kebaikan anak tp tak fikir perasaan anak. dia ckp anak dia baik, for now mmg lah baik buatnya budak tu pendam perasaan tak elok gak. what if only this thing can make her happy? can't imagine her feelings rn, nak marah memberontak pun tak boleh
