Johor Crown Prince, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, today announced his decision to relinquish the control of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club to its top management.

Tunku Ismail (TMJ) said that he will no longer be involved in the daily running of the football club.

The decision was announced via the club’s official Facebook page, the Johor Southern Tigers earlier today.

“Due to my other responsibilities and commitments, I have decided to take a step back and hand over the control of JDT FC to the top management of the club.

“I wish the club and everyone all the best,” the post reads.

TMJ took over JDT in 2012 and has been credited with transforming JDT into a powerhouse in the Malaysian football scene, as well as the Asian region.

The southern football club had won the Malaysian Super League (MSL) title for eight seasons in a row since 2014.

JDT charted another history this season by becoming the first Malaysian team to reach the last 16 of the Asian Champions League (ACL).

Most fans receives the news well and believed that TMJ had left the team in capable hands.
