Nasyid artist and composer Yasin Sulaiman sends his “regards” to Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman before he was charged under Sections 39B and 6B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for cultivating ganja plants.

The 47-year old artist was being led by the police when he calmly spoke to reporters that awaited at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex today.

“Assalamualaikum. Send my regard to YB Syed Saddiq. Ask him to expedite the approval,” said Yassin before he entered the courtroom.

It was believed that Yasin was referring to the Muda president’s call for the Parliament to legalise marijuana and hemp for medical purposes in September 2021.

Yasin was arrested at his condominium unit in Kota Damansara on March 24 where the police found 214g of compressed dried leaves believed to be ganja as well 17 ganja plants inside his home.

The dried leaves and plants were believed to be worth RM10,200 but the police investigation found that it was for personal use.

It was learned that Yasin, who had a history of drugs and mental issues, used social media to learn on how to grow the plants.
