“We’ll Clean It Up” Says JKNNS After Rat-Infested Hospital In Negeri Sembilan Goes Viral

The action comes right after a TikTok user recorded a video that showed rats scurrying around in Ward 3B in Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar.

After complaints of rats making their rounds in Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital on Monday, 14 March, the Negeri Sembilan Health Department (JKNNS) has conducted an immediate investigation and taken measures to improve the cleanliness of the hospital.

According to The Star, State Health director Datuk Dr Harlina Abdul Rashid said the department has increased the frequency of the cleaning and garbage collection schedule.

The hospital maintenance concessionaires were also instructed to identify locations frequented by rats and increase the number of traps installed as well as schedule pest control and carry out planned preventive maintenance every day and month using appropriate methods. The Entomology and Pest unit is also involved in conducting investigations and providing technical advisory services to ensure effective implementation of prevention activities and pest control.

State Health director Datuk Dr Harlina Abdul Rashid said in a statement.

She added that the state Health Department truly appreciated the public feedback and strive to ensure the comfort and safety of the public who sought treatment at the hospital.

Previously, TikTok user @dayanaradzuan shared her sister’s experience in the government hospital.

Her sister, who was positive for Covid-19, was admitted to the local hospital and saw rats running around Ward 3B.

Dayana claimed that her sister’s report to the nurses was ignored so she decided to viral the issue publicly. Her video gained around 438k views and 23k likes at the time.
