Vaccinated travellers can soon enjoy quarantine free entry when the air vaccinated travel lane (VTL) between Penang and Singapore programme begins.

Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Exco Yeoh Soon Hin said that the programme is expected to kick off by the middle of this month, with preparation being made including at the Penang International Airports (PIA) to receive flights.

“I have been informed that the authorities have given the green light for the air VTL between Penang and Singapore, and that it is expected to start from mid-March,” he was quoted as saying.

Apart from determining the aerobridge and special path for the VTL passengers, PIA has also set up a medical lab for the Covid-19 screening test.

The first VTL programme started on 29 November last year between Changi International Airport and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Talks are ongoing to expand the VTL programme at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
