A 135-year-old raintree has been uprooted at the Taiping Lake Gardens due to a storm.
According to The Star, Taiping Municipal Council president Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir said the tree was uprooted at Raintree Walk at the lake gardens on Tuesday, 22 February.
Based on a report by an arborist, the structural imbalance of the tree was the cause of the uprooting. The raintree was already leaning before the storm.

The public is advised not to hold any activities in the area to prevent permanent damage to the fallen tree. The area has also been cordoned off to ensure the safety of the public.
Khairul Amir said the municipal council will ensure the tree would be saved immediately to the best of their abilities. The other trees in the surrounding area would also be cared for.
Restoration works include upholding the tree, pruning its branches and treating the roots and soil. The tree will be monitored and maintained within 12 months until it has been restored.
