Twitterjaya reaches peak adulthood by parenting their parents

Growing up, parents were like superheroes, always being the adult that you turn to, no matter what the problem is.
We may have hated how they refused to let us eat Maggi for dinner or take away our handphones, but deep down we all understood that it was for our own good. (Or so they would say, anyway.)
Which is why it’s difficult to learn as we grow up that at the end of the day, they are only human, just like us. They’re not super-adults, they’re not invincible, and they’re not perfect.
Twitter user @leenbakar found that parenting her parents was peak adulting behaviour and Twitterjaya shared her sentiments.
And by parenting, I mean policing my mom’s air manis consumption and forcing her to go to see the doctor when she is unwell. Quite tough because she thinks panadol is a cure-all for all her ailments.

And prevent them from falling for scams …

Many parents are stubborn and can sometimes respond badly to being parented by their own children. For most, they always see their children as kids, even if they are now full-grown adults of their own.
Yeah! Finally someone said it! I had to practically forced my dad into the car to drive him to emergency at midnight. He insist he got hastric. The doc said its a heart attack. If we waited til the morning, he won’t be around anymore.

My mom just slapped me in the face when i said it’s disrespectful to use pictures/vids of people’s literal dying moments catered to muslims so that they should remember to pray as much as possible before they die. 😔🤙

In fact, adult children can feel very torn between the conflict of parenting their parents and just letting them be… (Kind of how they used to parent us, right?)
I scold them every single time. Im such a bad son. 😔

It’s never easy to go from revering your parents to having to parent them, but that’s just a fact of life.
PS: and parents, please listen to your kids once in a while. It’s for your own good.
