A female cashier’s quick thinking might have just saved her store from suffering big losses in a robbery attempt in Taman Semenyih Indah, in Kajang last Monday.
According to Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan, the 21-year-old female cashier was working at the store a man armed with a parang, barged in at about 7.20pm.
“The suspect, who covered his face with a yellow cloth, tried forcing the victim to open the cash register and hand over all the cash but the victim managed to stall by saying she did not have the key to do so.
“This angered the suspect who shouted at the victim,” Mohd Zaid was contacted as saying by The Star.
The robber then ordered the cashier to hand over her mobile phone but she decided against it and continued to run into the store room and lock the door behind her.
Realising that nothing else could be done, the suspect fled the scene but he did manage to grab several boxes of cigarettes, added Mohd Zaid.
He said the police are investigating the robbery under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code.
“We urge those with information to contact investigating officer Insp K. Suresh at 017-4333795 or any nearest police station to assist the investigation,” he said.
