Malaysia’s mass immunisation drive is currently in gear with 40 vaccine trucks set to hit the highways in the coming months.
The first mobile vaccination unit was first seen on Monday (7 June) inoculating more than 1,000 residents at the People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Kampung Muhibbah near Jinjang.

Mobile Vaccination Units: For who and where
- The government aims to deploy vaccination trucks to areas where people might have difficulty getting to immunisation centres such as those in PPR areas and construction sites in the Federal capital that are still in operation during the total lockdown.
- In his speech Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s said mobile vaccination centres are for the convenience of people living in kampungs, Orang Asli, person with disability (OKU), the elderly and others.
- 9 states have activated their mobile vaccination units which includes:
- Tenom and Kinabatangan in Sabah
- Pasir Putih and Gua Musang in Kelantan
- Kuala Kangsar and Hilir Perak in Perak
- In Penang, the government has rolled out mobile vaccination services to 8 nursing homes every day.
- Selangor has mobile vaccination centres in every district.
- Vaccination trucks to vaccinate 400,000 people around Kuala Lumpur in dense areas such as housing projects and vagrant transit centres.
- It was reported by The Edge that each truck is capable of administering 100 doses.
The need for mobile mass immunisation comes at a time when Malaysia imposed its tightest restrictions yet to combat the spread of Covid-19 with bans on interstate travel and all but essential economic activities.
