The government has allowed for non-Muslim couples whose marriage registrations were affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) to complete it by 31 July.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said that couples who want to resolve their registrations won’t have to submit a new application or pay the required fees.

He also said that the National Registry Department (NRD) will provide the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for marriage and divorce registrations.

Ismail also added that the NRD will also allow marriage registrations to take place in 171 approved places of worship throughout the MCO period.

The government recently allowed wedding registrations for non-Muslim couples to be carried out during the ongoing conditional movement control order (CMCO).

According to reports by Malay Mail, marriage recitations are allowed but only with four people present – the bride and groom, along with two witnesses.
