Those who slandered him in the past are now receiving God’s punishment, according to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

In an interview with Malaysian Gazette, he spoke about the infamous sumpah laknat which he made at Masjid Kampung Baru as a way to proclaim his innocence and for God to hold him accountable for any wrongdoing.

There are people who said that Pakatan Harapan fell 66 days after I uttered the sumpah laknat. I cannot come to that conclusion, but the last sentence in my curse is heavy and I was hesitant to say it because if I lie, I prayed for God to punish me but if anyone has slandered me and do not apologise, they will face the punishment.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak

The former Barisan and UMNO President was in the international spotlight after his alleged involvement with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) surfaced a few years ago.

It was a scandal that involved billions of Ringgit and currently he’s facing trial for charges relating to the state-owned company.

His party was ousted in GE14 in 2018 against Pakatan Harapan which at the time was spearheaded by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), the Democratic Action Party (DAP), the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu).

After his downfall, Najib’s house was searched by the police for evidence relating to the scandal.
