A group of women in Malaysia are making a living by hiking up Bukit Panau mountain in Kelantan every morning to sell food and drinks to hikers.

The women, aged between 39 and 54, carry around 20 kilograms of food and drinks on their backs to the mountain top, which takes them about 30 to 40 minutes to climb.

They start their business at 6:30 am and finish around 11 am, earning between RM70 and RM100 daily.

The women started their businesses to support their families, with one woman saying that her husband’s health problems prevented him from working.

Despite the physical challenges of the job, the women have been able to make a living and even help their children with their education.

Showcasing Resilience And Hard Work

One of them, 39-year-old Norazma Mat Karji, was quoted by Berita Harian as feeling grateful because the routine of climbing every morning has caused her body to become slimmer than before.

Initially, it was tiring because she had to climb while carrying two heavy bags.

The mother of six climbs daily while carrying 20kg of food and drinks.

She sells fried chicken, fruit, drinks and snacks.

Although it’s tiring, she is happy with the income since her husband cannot work due to health problems.

If it’s a weekday, the income is more than a typical day’s.

The children will also help her carry things if they are not at school.
