Anwar Congratulates Kelantan Chap ‘Sofyank’ Who Struck Gold In The US

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated digital content creator Mohamad Sofian Abdullah after he was crowned the winner of the Ultimate Vfx Challenge.

Mohamad Sofian, popularly known as Sofyank, represented Malaysia in a Los Angeles, United States competition.

Famous digital video creator Zach King organised the competition, which required all contestants to produce a magic video within 72 hours.

The Prime Minister said through a tweet on Twitter that the creative power shown by young people must be nurtured and encouraged.

He added that Mohamad Sofian’s achievement was a success that made the country proud internationally.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Sofian, on his Instagram page, dedicated the victory to all Malaysians who have always supported him all this time.

I want to share the joy I feel with everyone who always supports us. I dedicate this victory to all of you.

Humble Beginnings

The eighth child of eleven siblings, Mohamad Sofian had graduated in accounting.

He rose to fame on social media after his VFX video went viral, even though he had no formal education in video editing.

His Instagram account, which uses the name @sofyank96, has gained over 864,000 followers.

In July 2019, his dream of meeting Zach came true when they met in Jakarta. 

Zach even invited Sofyank to Los Angeles for a visit to their studio.

His work also received attention from Hollywood actor Will Smith who re-uploaded his edited video on Instagram.
