A man paid RM50 for a box of rojak, but he felt it was worth the price.

Describing it as the most expensive rojak he had ever eaten, he did not complain about the price.

Instead, he shared a very heartwarming story on Facebook.

The man, whose username is Chiew Wei, had parked his car next to the rojak stall and asked the seller to send it to him when it was ready.

The man explained that he made this request because the weather was too hot, and the
hawker replied, “Of course, no problem”.

However, when the vendor brought the rojak over, he was dumbfounded.

He came with a cane, and I hurriedly opened the car window and said, ‘Uncle, I’m sorry, I really didn’t notice that you have limited mobility. If I knew, I would just stand there and wait for you to take it by myself, and no need to trouble you to come over and sent it to me.

Netizen Chiew Wei on his encounter with the handicapped rojak seller.

Chiew Wei said he felt very guilty inside, and the vendor told him, “It’s all right”.

Kindness Begets Kindness

Then, when he wanted to pay, there was no change, only larger banknotes, and the hawker did not have enough cash to give him change.

The hawker said it was okay; he could walk back to get the change, but Chiew Wei asked the peddler to wait for him to get it instead.

Unexpectedly, the hawker stopped him when he was about to cross the road and said it would be okay to pay next time.

Moved by the gesture, Chiew Wei gave the hawker RM50 and asked him to keep the change.

He said the hawker smiled happily but kept repeating, “You give too much”.

Chiew Wei said he shared the experience so that netizens who like to eat rojak can come and support the hawker.

At the time of writing, the posting had been shared more than 2,100 times with more than 5,000 likes.

The uncle showed me that everyone is working hard to earn a decent living, and improve their lives. He also made me feel the kindness between strangers and people. He is very loving and warm! Seeing him is like seeing my father-in-law.
