Health DG: 30% of Covid-19 Clusters Are From The Workplace

Of the 230 Covid-19 clusters reported in Malaysia, 62 clusters have been linked to the workplace, revealed Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
This means that 30% of Malaysia’s Covid-19 clusters have been traced to workplace infections.
Dr Noor Hisham also explained this figure includes 37 currently active clusters, of which two new ones were identified on 27 October – Lintas Cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Limbungan Cluster in Labuan.
A week earlier on 20 October, the Health DG had stated that 34.6% of Selangor’s Covid-19 cases are spread at the workplace.

However, he did explain that the infections can be brought down with employers taking proactive steps while workers adhere to the health standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place.
The proactive action of employers who carry out employee Covid-19 screening lets us detect positive non-symptomatic cases among employees. This in turn assists the MOH in carrying out public health activities immediately.

Dr Noor Hisham also stressed the importance of keeping a clean and safe working environment to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Malaysia currently has 9,903 reported Covid-19 cases that are currently active.
