Covid-19: Kuching Now Green Zone Again After 2 Weeks Without New Cases
After multiple clusters broke out in July, the Sarawak capital is now on the mend.

In July, Malaysia was rocked by the second wave of Covid-19 infections with Kuching seeing a whopping 9 new clusters appearing in Sarawak’s state capital alone.
However, thanks to the quick actions by the Health Ministry and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kuching is now officially a green zone again with no new local Covid-19 infections reported over the past 14 days.
In fact, SDMC reports that all districts in Sarawak are now green zones.
However, as of 12 August, 10 clusters remain active, which are:
- Sentosa Cluster – 31 cases
- Kuching Engineering Cluster – 8 cases
- Mambong Cluster – 7 cases
- Stutong Market Cluster – 7 cases
- Satok Market Cluster – 4 cases
- Kuching Medical Centre Cluster – 3 cases
- Jupiter Cluster – 3 cases
- Melbourne PUI Cluster – 3 cases
- Kuching Jetty Cluster – 2 cases
- Kuching Construction Company Cluster- 2 cases
Of the 70 active cases in the state, only three patients are currently undergoing treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.

The Health Ministry confirms 11 new Covid-19 cases reported on 12 August, whereby three are local transmission cases that involve two Malaysians and one non-Malaysian.
Two locals were confirmed positive after being screened at a medical centre in Kedah with symptoms.
They are currently undergoing treatment at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Kedah and the Health Ministry states that the two cases are not related.
One case involving a foreign national was detected in Sabah when a detainee was screened at the Tawau Police Station.
No additional Covid-19 death was reported and the death toll in Malaysia remains at 125.
