Covid-19: Malaysia’s Biggest Spike Ever With 277 New Cases Reported Today

Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced 277 new Covid-19 cases today, Malaysia’s biggest spike in new cases.
At the daily Covid-19 briefing today, Dr Noor Hisham explained that 271 of the new cases were detected in non-Malaysian citizens.
Of this number, 270 cases were detected among detainees at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot while one case involved a construction site worker.
To date, 608 Covid-19 cases were detected at the Bukit Jalil Immigration depot.
Dr Noor Hisham also explains that 2 cases were imported, while 275 were local infections. Local Covid-19 infection was detected in four Malaysians, two in Negeri Sembilan and one each in Selangor and Pahang.

This new figure pushes Malaysia’s official Covid-19 cases to 8,247.
However, no new deaths were reported today and the death toll remains at 115.
The second highest Covid-19 spike was on 26th March with 235 new cases. Two other incidences of Covid-19 spikes in the 200s were on 23rd March with 212 cases and 3rd April with 217 cases.
