Covid-19 Screening For Sungai Buloh Prison Staff & Inmates Ongoing After Positive Case

Sungai Buloh prison inmates and staff will be screened for Covid-19 after a former detainee had tested positive for the virus.
The former inmate was jailed since 2016 and was released on March 13. He tested positive for Covid-19 on 31st May.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the patient, a foreigner, has since been placed in the Semenyih Immigration Detention Centre and the Health Ministry is currently testing and screening those who’ve been exposed to him.
Speaking to reporters at the daily Covid-19 briefing on Monday, Dr Noor Hisham explained that active case detection is being carried out on the patient’s close contacts, 700 prison staff and 800 detainees at the Sungai Buloh prison.
