Covid-19: Malaysia Records Highest Daily Recovery As Cases Surge Past 2,500

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that three more people had lost their lives to Covid-19 today, bringing Malaysia’s death toll to 37. However, the country’s death rate so far is still at 1.4%.

Case 1952 was a 57-year-old woman with a history of diabetes and travel to Indonesia. She was undergoing treatment in Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Meanwhile, the other two deaths were a 47-year-old man (Case 1941) and 46-year-old woman (Case 2471) in Sarawak. The deceased female was also suffering from an autoimmune disease and high blood pressure.

TRP sends our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, and a big thank you to all medical staff for their hard work. 

The country’s Covid-19 case count has also surged past the 2,500 mark with 156 new confirmed cases today, bringing the total number of infections to 2,626.

Dr Noor Hisham also informed that 94 patients are currently in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), whereby 62 patients are on ventilators.

However, he did have some good news to share. Malaysia marks its highest number of Covid-19 recoveries as 91 patients were discharged, bringing it to a total of 479 recovered cases.

This makes the nation’s recovery rate an impressive 18.2%.
