US Overtakes China And Italy. Becomes Most Infected Country In The World

The United States of America now has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with more than 85,000 cases and more than 1,100 casualties, overtaking China and Italy.

It’s reported that American hospitals are overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases and 40% of Americans are under lockdown to prevent the spread of the illness.

New York is cited as the center of the pandemic in the US, with its 37,802 infections accounting for nearly half of all cases in the country and tens of thousands more than any other state.

The coronavirus also affected workers in the country as 3.3 million filed for unemployment – the biggest single-week jump in history.

As a response to the pandemic, the US Senate approved a USD2 trillion (RM8.57 trillion) stimulus package to soften the blow on the economy caused by the coronavirus.
