BSN Melaka Branch Starts Distributing Rahmah Cash Aid Payments (STR) on 26 June 2023
Following the distribution of Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) that took place on Monday, the TRP team interviewed several STR recipients at the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Main State Branch in Melaka.
The majority of the recipients expressed their gratitude for the help as it can reduce their burden at home to some extent, and some even wished to help family members.
Anuar Kasim, 57, an STR recipient explained that the assistance given can help his family and enables him to help other family members who are in need.
“With this money, I want to buy kitchen items and important daily items. And since Raya Haji is near, I can buy chicken and all the needs for the celebration later too,” he explained.
Anuar, who works as a contract worker, also expressed his gratitude to the government for the aid provided.
Commenting further, another STR recipient, Affendy, 23, who works at Jonker Walk, hopes that this assistance would be continued by the government to help many more needy groups in Malaysia.
Ang Ho Tong, 75, a senior citizen who is no longer working explained that this STR assistance allows him to buy necessities and kitchen items at home.
Another STR recipient who works as a panda mascot in the Red Building, Daud Rashid, 53, explained that this donation will be used for himself because the income obtained from his actual job as a mascot is often uncertain.
“If there is a job anywhere, I go,” he explained.
Daud at the same time also said that his average income as a mascot depends on the public’s contribution on that day.
Therefore, he felt that this aid greatly helps ease his burden.
“I just want to entertain the children even though there are individuals who take pictures with my mascot, but do not make any contribution,” he explained.
He also hopes that this assistance will be continued by the government so that he can continue living more comfortably after this.
STR recipients in rural areas including Sabah and Sarawak with or without bank accounts should also receive this payment aid on the same date. Those who do not have a bank account can make cash withdrawals at their nearest Bank Simpanan Nasional branches.
Checks on payment status can be done on the STR official portal.
