A 23-year-old junior police constable has been arrested in connection with a rape attempt on a teenage girl that happened in Ipoh.
On 17 June around 2.30am, the officer allegedly made an attempt to rape a 19-year-old girl in a petrol station toilet at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak in Ipoh, Perak. She lodged a police report on the same day.
According to the police statement, the constable served at the Batu Gajah police station. The suspect will be remanded for 5 days from 18 to 22 June for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 376/511 of the Penal Code (Rape Attempt).
The police said they take the issue of integrity and conduct of its personnel seriously and will not compromise on the misconduct of its personnel.
The public is also advised not to make any speculations about the case that could affect the investigation.
