A 15-year-old boy was set on fire by a group after he was accused of stealing money in Perasing Jaya in Kemaman, Terengganu.

The victim’s father was alerted of the incident when the victim returned home around 3am and asked for help.

The father was shocked to see his son’s condition: burns on his neck down to his back.

The victim is now being treated at the Intensive Care Unit at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang.

According to NST, the victim is believed to have been doused with liquid believed to be petrol before they set him on fire.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was torched by some of his friends who accused him of stealing RM100.

Kemaman police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said police arrested six people aged 18 to 25, including the main suspect to assist in the investigation.

The group tested negative for drugs in a urine drug test. Hanyan said the police are still looking for several other suspects believed to be involved in the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
