Parents who have yet to get their children, aged between five and 11, vaccinated against Covid-19 can do so during the five-day vaccination drive starting today.

According to New Straits Times, interested parents can bring their children – aged between five to 11 – and walk into health clinics under Health Ministry without having to make an appointment till 24 June (Friday).

“This vaccination drive is to cater to parents who now wish to get the Covid-19 vaccine for children who’ve missed out on the opportunity before, and the Health Ministry’s concern for the safety of children from vaccine-preventable diseases.

“Vaccination is based on the supply at the facilities, and should the stock for the day run out, parents can bring their children the next day,” Deputy Health Minister I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali was quoted by the English daily.

The vaccination drive was held in conjunction with the 2022 National Immunisation Week on June 16, themed “Perlindungan Sepanjang Hayat Untuk Semua” (Lifelong Protection for All).

Dr Noor Azmi also added that parents who had just learned about Covid-19 vaccinations or had just decided to allow their children to get vaccinated were encouraged to take up the opportunity.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids), which ended on 31 May saw a total of 1,737,117 children receiving at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 1,286,790 children have completed two doses.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Azmi said that parents with children reaching the age of five can still book vaccination appointments, according to the date and place of vaccination of choice, through the MySejahtera application.
