The Student Representative Council (MPP) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Se-Malaysia finds that the lecturer’s action is demeaning to the student.

According to Harian Metro, MPP president Rasydan Mohd Hassan said what was uttered by Professor Dr Ts. Roshana Takim was out of the norm and unethical.

Rasydan added that UiTM was founded to help more Malay and Bumiputera students to get their higher education.

He said insulting and demeaning the B40 group weren’t fair to anyone.

“I, as a representative for the whole student body family urge the highest management in university to launch an investigation and take proper action because the lecturer has tarnished the university’s good image. The lecturer should understand the state of the country that’s still dealing with the pandemic that has caused everyone in Malaysia to live with an unstable economy.

Since the university management has always said that the students are the pillars of UiTM, the university should take stern action against the lecturer and any individuals who behave similarly in the future.

What happened previously?

This matter was stemmed from the incident where a university lecturer berated a student for not owning a laptop for five semesters.

The professor even told the student to find out if his sister has any pieces of jewellery to sell off so he could afford a laptop that was as low as RM800.

The professor’s words triggered criticisms and uproar online from netizens and politicians.
