Even during the lockdown, as the pandemic ravaged the country leaving death and the critically ill in its wake, marriage was still on the minds of a lot of young couples in Malaysia.

Now that the Klang Valley has entered Phase Two of the National Recovery Program (NRP) and the government has introduced more perks, freedoms, and leeway for the vaccinated, it seems that a lot of couples are taking advantage of the situation.

We browsed through the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) list of nine district offices and found that almost all of them are fully booked for the solemnization ceremony (nikah) until November.

The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) calendar is fully booked as well.

November is still available only because no one is allowed to schedule their ceremony two months ahead.

The Hulu Selangor, Sepang, and Sabak Bernam District Islamic Religious Offices are the only district offices in Selangor that have empty slots to hold the nikah in October.

According to the Phase Two SOP of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) as of 17 September, nikah can only be held at Islamic Religious Offices or Department.

Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are currently in Phase Two of the NRP.
