How Lazada Is Helping Malaysians Bring Ramadan And Raya Festivities Home

At the time of writing, Malaysians have already spent half of the fasting month under the Movement Control Order (MCO). Even though the rules on movement have been relaxed recently, the government is still not allowing Malaysians to travel back to their hometowns for Hari Raya.

In short, both Ramadan and Raya this year will be very different for all of us.

But Ramadan and Raya must go on

It is true that there will be less variety for buka puasa; and Raya will be less festive. But we still need to break fast, and we should all continue to observe the first day of Syawal.

The best way to do it is to bring both the Ramadan and Raya festivities home; and share the celebrations with the family or friends whom we live with. This way, we can ensure our health as well as the safety of those we care about most.

Lazada’s Salam Mubarak campaign aims at helping Malaysians to bring the festivities home

According to Lazada, the idea behind their Ramadan and Raya campaign is to encourage Malaysians to continue staying at home as much as possible. The e-commerce site has increased their offerings during the Ramadan period, so that we can all get our shopping done without having to head out too much.

Lazada had previously onboarded fresh food suppliers to ensure Malaysians can continue to get fresh groceries in a safe and timely manner. This effort will continue throughout the Ramadan and Raya period to help families get supplies for sahur and iftar

On top of that, they have launched their first food delivery service called Selera Lazada. This initiative is designed to connect small-time F&B operators to a wider customer base. At the same time, it allows Malaysians to enjoy classic Ramadan bazaar food without having to step out of our homes.

The cut off time for Selera Lazada orders is set at 2pm daily, so that vendors have time to prepare and package the food. The hot and fresh food are targeted to reach customers by 7pm, just in time for buka puasa.

To keep people entertained, Lazada is also showing Raya-themed content through their live-streaming platform LazLive. This includes everything from Raya dishes recipe videos, to fashion and beauty reviews.

These shows are hosted by popular food vlogger Azfarheri; and prominent fashion editor and stylist Azreezal Hafidz.

More savings and lower free shipping threshold introduced to make shopping more affordable

In addition to the seasonal RM1 deals and Flash Sales that Lazada is known for, the e-commerce platform will be giving out more discounts these few days to ease the Raya shopping burden. Here are some of the items on discount:

The free shipping threshold is also lowered from the previous RM15 to RM9 for the current Salam Mubarak campaign. This way, more people can enjoy cheaper online shopping to prepare for the festive season.

A different Ramadan and Raya, but a meaningful one nonetheless

Ramadan and Raya may be quieter this year due to the country’s situation, but it does not stop us from making it a meaningful one just like previous years. Faith, family, and health are the three most important things – and we are fortunate enough to have all three with us.

Take this chance to build stronger bonds (silaturrahim) with loved ones, stay home, and stay healthy.
