Tourism Malaysia is looking to ramp up their – well, tourism – now that Malaysian borders are open.
In an effort to boost our tourism industry, Tourism Malaysia has partnered with Visa to promote Malaysia as an excellent travel destination for international tourists.
The Perks
Visa will be introducing Visa Preferred Merchant Programme (VPM), which will enable Visa cardholders with access to exclusive offers for accommodation, air tickets, dining, shopping and medical wellness.
Basically, anyone with a Visa card will be entitled to these discounts and special prices to be used within Malaysia or even oversesas!
In fact, during the launch, Visa shared two promo codes that can be used for up to 30% off flight ticket and hotel booking fares: VISAHOTEL30 and VISAFLIGHT30.
Visa is excited to extend our partnership with Tourism Malaysia and launch a specially curated ‘Home Away from Home’ campaign. With the reopening of borders, we are looking forward to being a driving force in boosting tourism growth and promoting Malaysia as a tourist destination post-pandemic.

Malaysia Welcomes Back International Tourists
Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Datuk Sri Nancy Shukri has declared that the reopening borders signal opportunities for economic recovery and drive tourism growth once again.
She notes that the country is expecting and prepared for a conservative figure of 2 million international tourists in the coming months. This figure is likely to increase as other countries begin reopening their borders as well.
All our international airports are prepared for international tourists: not just KLIA and KLIA2, but even Langkawi and Penang International Airport.

Overseas Tourism Malaysia offices are already conducting roadshows and promotions in foreign countries like the Middle East, India, and Vietnam to promote Malaysia as an attractive tourist destination to ramp up tourism.
Prior to the pandemic, Malaysia welcomed 26.1 million tourist arrivals with a total expenditure of RM86.1 billion in 2019. The top three expenditures consisted of shopping, accommodation, and food and beverages, making up RM61 billion of the tourist receipts for the year 2019.
