As of this morning, in Sabah alone, there are 7 hospitals and 946 beds designated for the treatment of Covid-19 patients who require critical care, classified as category 3 to 5.
This is according to a post on Facebook by Health Ministry Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah
He added that there are also now 16 Quarantine Centres and 3,876 beds for low risk patients who exhibit mild or no symptoms, classified as category 1 or 2.
Dr Noor Hisham also reminded people that in taking measures to ensure hospital readiness on the East Coast of Sabah, the Ministry in collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) are planning to create a field hospital in Tawau.
“Non-COVID-19 patients from Tawau Hospital will be treated at this field hospital especially for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and General Surgery services.
“This will give more space to Tawau Hospital to treat Covid-19 cases of categories 3 – 5, while cases of categories 1 and 2 will continue to be housed by PKRC.
“The initial plan is to place 100 beds in this field hospital,” he wrote.

TRP's Head of Editorial, Hamzah was formerly a hard-news journalist who reported on politics, did investigative work, and occasionally went undercover. He now spends his days sitting at a desk, checking grammar and fielding calls from PR companies, which is totally fine and fulfilling. For sure. He's also married with kids now so his wife and mother said he can't do risky things anymore.
