A Malaysian doctor has become the first case of a healthcare provider killed by COVID-19 here.
The 48 year old doctor is the 9th death linked to the disease and the 890th case of infection.
He was admitted to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar on 17 March after showing symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 18.
Despite being put on a ventilator, he passed away at 10.33am today.
However, his infection was not related to the Malaysia’s healthcare front-liners and was instead attributed to travel as he was recently in Turkey.
At least 15 healthcare front-liners have been infected by COVID-19. Please be upfront with them regarding your interaction with people who may be infected or if you are under quarantine.
