A hospital in Kedah is urging all visitors and patients to provide full and accurate information during the screening process after a pregnant patient tested positive for COVID-19.

The 30-year-old pregnant patient reportedly did not provide full disclosure and was admitted for childbirth at Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok as per the usual process. However, after delivering her child, she developed a fever.

Only after the hospital staff asked the patient further questions did they find out that she had been living with a family member who had tested positive. Her family member was also one of the attendees of the tabligh event at the Sri Petaling Mosque.

The hospital has since transferred the patient to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar for treatment and disinfected all areas visited by the patient. All staff who had been in contact with the patient have been identified, screened and placed under quarantine.

The hospital will also be closing their doors for two days to undergo “full terminal disinfection and fumigation” from 22 March to 23 March.

Come on people, let’s all be socially responsible and do our part to curb the spread of COVID-19. This includes practising good personal hygiene, social distancing, staying and home, and least of all, providing full and accurate information during any screening processes.
