The Causeway was filled with excited Malaysians and Singaporeans alike keen to head home as the Malaysia-Singapore borders reopened at midnight on 1 April.

After 2 years, we can finally cross the borders freely again without needing to quarantine or sit for additional tests.

Motorists were heard cheering as they crossed the Causeway and back onto home soil. Plenty more Malaysians crossed the borders on-foot, walking the 1km-long bridge back into Johor.

Many were waiting at the border for the clock to strike midnight.

In fact, 11,000 travellers have crossed the border within the first 7 hours alone! Majority of the travellers were Malaysians travelling from Singapore into Johor, while the other wise entering Singapore saw a much smaller crowd.
