Ismail Sabri’s Cabinet stands rather similar in comparison to the previous one formed by former PM Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yasin – with a number of familiar faces, 70 Ministers in total, four Senior Ministers and no Deputy Prime Minister.
Mahiaddin’s Cabinet was noted to be the largest one Malaysia has ever had and the first of its kind to have no DPM.
However, Ismail Sabri was later appointed as the DPM on 21 July while retaining his post as the Defence Minister.
Mahiaddin and his Cabinet effectively resigned on 16 August after just 17 months in power following political turmoil.
