Datuk Saarani Mohamad is now the new Menteri Besar of Perak after it was consented by Sultan Nazrin Shah.

Bernama reports that the Perak UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman had received the consent from the Sultan after considering that Saarani could gain the trust of most of the State Assemblymen.

He was picked to replace Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu who lost out on a majority confidence vote, who resigned along with his entire State Executive Council (Exco) line-up.

The motion of confidence was initiated by Aznel Ibrahim (BN/UMNO-Pengkalan Bharu) and Howard Lee Chuan How (HARAPAN-Pasir Pinji).

Then, speculations surfaced over who will be the next MB with political parties all lining up to meet the Sultan, even PAS, who initially declined to meet the monarch.

Even Faizal Azumu’s future piqued the interest of the media as reports surfaced that he is rumoured to be the next Deputy Prime Minister.
