Malaysia will not be taking any more new foreign workers in all sectors until the end of the year as employment opportunities will be given to locals, according to Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
He said currently there are around 2 million foreign workers in the country
We will not allow (new) foreign workers until year-end. They (foreigners) can come as tourists, if they are allowed. We try to reduce foreign workers in the workforce besides giving priority to locals to secure jobs.

Saravanan said his Ministry would evaluate the outcome of the move by the end of the year to see if it is effective in helping Malaysians to look for jobs.
He also said that those who are finding employment opportunities should not be choosy to help the country to reduce dependence on foreign workers.
