A 51-year-old traditional medicine practitioner was charged with killing her patient at the Ampang Magistrate Court today, in an incident that took place at Pandan Perdana on 27 July.
According to Harian Metro, the accused, Che Hong Chiew, simply nodded when the charge was read to her before magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top.
However, no plea was recorded from the accused.
Based on the charge sheet, Che was accused of killing Lim Sin Lue, 41, between 4.45pm and 5pm on July 27.
She was accused of committing the act in the living hall of a house, address at No 35, Jalan Perdana 2/20, Pandan Perdana, Ampang.
She was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy public prosecutor Annur Athirah Amran prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.
The court set 13 October for the case’s re-mention.
It was previously reported that the victim had sought alternative medical treatment from the accused as she was said to be suffering from hysteria for the last eight years.
Lim was pronounced dead by a team of paramedics who were rushed to the location after she was found lying unconscious by her mother on 27 July at the accused house’s living hall.
The victim had also undergone psychiatric treatment in a hospital previously.
