Sometimes we can be careless when it comes to our belongings. For Nalissa Azmee, her carelessness on Tuesday, 22 February 2022, will forever be etched in her mind.

She queued up to buy some food at Haruka Bakery in Melawati Mall yesterday but did not realize she left her gold iPhone 13 Pro Max on the ledge of the counter.

She only realised her phone was missing when she was already in the car park. She immediately returned to the bakery because she remembered she left her phone there.

Since her phone wasn’t there, she requested to view the CCTV recording from the staff and that was when she discovered another woman in a black shirt and green tudung pocketed her phone.

She shared a clip of the CCTV footage on her Twitter and Instagram to ask netizens for help to track down the woman and her phone.

Nalissa also lodged a police report in hopes of tracking down the thief and recovering her phone.

This was because she had important documents from her work and her flight details on the phone. She was supposed to fly to perform the umrah this weekend.

With help from five policemen, they managed to recover her smartphone and arrested the woman at 3.30am this morning (23 February). Nalissa said she was grateful for all the help she got online and from the police.

Unfortunately, some of the files on the phone have been erased when it was reset. The backup only went as far as December only.

According to her Instagram story, Nalissa said she drove everywhere while trying to track down her phone and might have run a few red lights along the way.

She added that the woman admitted that she took the smartphone and planned to sell it but has apologised to Nalissa too.

When netizens wondered why they didn’t use MySejahtera to trace the person, Nalissa explained that the police are not allowed to check or trace using the app due to several fake vaccination cases.

No one can use it to trace logs other than the Health Ministry.

Hopefully, the rest of us will watch and take proper care of our belongings because we might not be as fortunate as Nalissa in recovering our lost items.
